Instructions for Script Use
Manufacturer/Operating System-ISS (Generic) Intel-compatible hardware
Linux

The purpose of this script is to get configuration information from your systems. This data will not be shared
outside of TERiX and will be used only to calculate sparing levels for your contracted systems.

TERiX_Linux_sysinfo.sh is a UNIX shell script that gathers the necessary information to facilitate our support process. The script will be provided as a tar file that you can ftp in binary mode to a directory of your choice on each system to be supported.

If logged in as root, the script will give us maximum information. If you cannot or are unwilling to run as root, we will still get much of the information we need for sparing purposes. (No. and speed of CPU's, Memory and some I/O information).

If the system is made by Dell, please provide service tags for each system in addition to the outputs of the process below.

If the system is made by HP or Compaq, please provide the outputs of HP Insight online diagnostics (will run on linux/windows while system is up)

If the system is made by IBM, please provide the complete seven-digit machine type and model code (e.g., 8670-71X) and provide it along with output from each system

(1) Copy this text based script file to each system

(2) Execute the script:
type: ./terix_linux_systeminfo.sh

(3) This script will take under 5 minutes to complete depending on the system and its configuration. It will create a file in the current directory called <hostname>. Please rename the file to customername-hostname and send it to TERiX using steps below.

(4) If possible we would like a hostname to serial number mapping created. If not, we will need to send a local FE onsite to collect the serial numbers.

(5) Instructions for sending output to TERiX:

Please send the output files to TERiX via one of the following methods:

Email:
- email the file to config_data@terix.com

Ftp:
- please upload the output file to TERiX's ftp Server at ftp.terix.com.
- Username is upload
- Password: upload
Once the ftp completes, please email config_data@terix.com with the names of uploaded files that were placed on the ftp server.

(6) Once the ftp completes, please email config_data@terix.com with the filenames

that were placed on the ftp server. (7) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
