The purpose of this script is to get configuration information from your EMC systems. This data will not be shared outside of TERiX and will be used only to calculate sparing levels for your contracted systems.

The processes below are designed to gather the necessary information to facilitate our support process. The script will be provided as a tar file that you can ftp in binary mode to a directory of your choice on each system to be supported.

(1) Log into EMC host

(2) Run SPCollect:

naviseccli -h ss1_spa spcollect

This example creates a .zip file on the storage system, which contains system log files.
The .zip file has the following format:
SPx_arrayserialnumber_spsignature_date_time_data.zip

Where

x SP A or B.
arrayserialnumber Storage system serial number.
spsignature SP signature
date Date of collection.
time Time of collection

To use this command with navicli, replace naviseccli with navicli.

Errors are printed to stderr.

(3) If possible we would like a hostname to serial number mapping created. If not, we will need to send a local FE onsite to collect the serial numbers.

If logged in as an administrative users, the data gathered will give us maximum information. If you cannot or are unwilling to log in as an administrative user, we will still get much of the information we need for sparing purposes.
